Evening folks.

Parents gave me a open choice gift voucher. Allows me to choose which experience I wish to do.
'3rd Gear experience'.

Ain't chosen what I'd like to do yet.

The options are;
'Racing Car Experiece' - Single Seaters. (2.5 hours)
'Rally Experience' - Rally experience in a Subaru Imprezza. (2.5 hours)
'Seat Trackstar' - Track lessons in a Seat Leon Cupra. (1 hour)
'Legends Experience' - American Hot Rods, (2.5 hours)
'E-Type Experience' - Driving a Jag E-Type. (1.5 hours)
'Morgan Experience' - Driving a Morgan Plus 8. (1.5 hours)

Has anyone done any of those?

What can I expect?
Been to Knockhill before, went with parents as my old man did the Seat Leon experience a few years back.

Any recommendations?
I'm 18, so suitable recommendations for my age, what would be best?

It's to be used within the year.
At the moment I'm thinking either the rally or E-type!

Thanks,
Andy.

I wouldnt do the rally one it was just a few goes up and down the service road behind the track when I went, then the instructor lost it big time trying to show off.

I'd do the single seater one or the e-type.

Thats how it was when I did it a few years back too (although the instructor was Gordon Shedden and he did ok).

I know an instructor there and he was telling me that the rally experience has changed a lot since I did it, so it might be a bit more involving now.

If you chose the legends, tell them you want to do a derestricted day. They are sooo frustrating as standard as they are limited to 5000rpm. Just end up driving slowly round as you haven't the revs to really make it scream frown

How about using it for track tuition? Might be more worthwhile in the long run?

I've done it a few times nowsmile

single seater, then you dont get an instructor banging on about keeping the car in 3rd and 4th gear all the time

I've done the single seater, rally and legends experiences. By far the most fun was the legends (derestricted). Recommend you buy more laps if you can afford it because it is so much fun you won't want it to end too soon!

This was my experience of doing the rally experience only late last year. Very disappointing for the amount of money it costs. I had more fun gokarting last night than I did on the rally experience and it was at least a third of the price for a lot more laps and much more fun.

I did the single seater experience a few years back, to be honest it is totally crap. You get a two lap instruction session (In an MGF when I did it), then a demonstration lap in a Hyundai of how not to do it, then 5 laps in the single seater. If you spin or come off (which is a high probability in the normally soaking wet Knockhill) you are not allowed to rejoin the track....and you are only allowed to overtake on the straights!!! So you get a total of 7 laps driving which equates to 8-9 minutes on track!

Hopefully it has all changed since I did it! Try the "E" Type as it is an experience that will become harder to find over the years and save your pennies and go to Palmersport...the best racing experience by far in the uk, in my opinion anyway!

I did the single seaters years back (When they had MGFs and Formula Firsts). Was very good.

I reckon I'd go for the legends next time - they look mental.

I did the single seaters a couple of weeks ago.

Was great if not over a little quick so we ended up paying an extra £50 for 7 more laps!

After the extra laps I felt like I'd had a decent enough shot.

Instructor was great to .

Cheers,

Dave

When I did it, 3 or 4 years ago I paid 20 quid extra for 3 photo's. However, the 'photographer' forgot to take the any photos somehow and I ended up with 7 more free laps.

Jolly chuffed.

Tough choice, still thinking about single seater's or the E-Type!

Knockhill being quite tight and twisty, I’d expect something nimble to be more fun. That’s just me though.

That'd rule out the E-type then!
