Hi All,

I'm heading down to see the GF in Cornwall this weekend, and am going to have a bit of time on my hands on Saturday, My front SO3s are on their way out, so thought I would get them changed whilst down there.

Does anyone know of any decent places to get them done at down there? The only place I know of is Peninsula - but that's a bit of a treck back up the A30. Anywhere closer to Truro/Falmouth? (I'm happy to drive back up to Peninsula, but thought I'd ask anyway.)

Cheers boys and girls.

Ropey

PS Anyone down that way, keep an eye out over the weekend - I shall be

What do you need, I managed a freefit for ten years in Plymouth, sure I could find you a deal.

Cheers Corin,

Looking for 2x 225/50/15Z SO3s. How much for the tyres fitting/balancing/valves/inc. VAT?

How about tracking/alignment? Can you do that too?

£105 + Vat fully fitted. This is at the centre I ran until last year when I decided on a career change so you can be sure the car would be in safe hands.

Just spoken to Peninsula who can do them for £96 plus VAT. Plus I get to have a look around a few other TVRs at the same time!

Thanks for checking it out for me though.

No problem, I don't call the shots up there any more but the four wheel laser alignment system up there works well.

Hmmm, I bit odd - I defintely sent one as I had a PH confirmation email.

Anyway, it went like this:

Hi Corin,

Thought I'd do this over email - bit easier (Was wrong there, wasn't I?!). So, does the £105 include the laser alignment? Is that the same as tracking??

If so, I might consider it, as Peninsula only includes the balancing/valves/fitting.

Let me know? Many thanks.

Also, what time does your place open/close this Saturday?

Cheers,

Matt. (Ropey)

Ropey,

Not a place you'd normally expect to get recommended but I used Kwik Fit in Falmouth for the tyres on my Boxster. They were much cheaper than anywhere else - I didn't even have to ask them to beat another price and they did a fine job.
If you see a blue Box S over the weekend give it a wave (if you can bring yourself to! ) - it'll probably be me!

The four wheel alignment system up there is basically an advanced tracking system whereby you clamp the steering wheel straight, place 90 degree flags from the rear wheels and then fire the lasers up around the car from the front. By then adjusting you correct any off central postion of the steering wheel, you align the front with the rear and get the correct toe in/out.

I'm sure I could get this sorted for you.

Corin - Sounds good. Can you let me know when on Saturday they could do, and total cost. Also an address would be helpful (with postcode as I'll need to multimap it!).

Then I can make a decision based on all the facts and figures.

Email me through my profie if you prefer.

Many thanks.

Cheers Chaps,

I shall take a look when I'm down there this w/e - and make my mind up depending on just how cheap Kwik Fit will do the tyres for!!

If they're that cheap, I might end up buying a load and flogging them back up in London!

Sorry - I only got back from Cornwall yesterday evening. Thanks Corin, yes they did.

Also checked my tracking and alignment - it was way out, hence the wearing on the inside edge of the tyres. All sorted now, and it runs much better.

Made for some great 'spirited' driving over the weekend! Just need some of those roads up in London now!!
