I'm thinking of buying a Maserati 3200, though i know nothing about these cars at all. Apart from owning a wedge 420se i know the 3200 will be thirsty!
Can anyone help on servicing costs. How much, when due and any local garages near to Leeds?
Also anything i should look out for when buying this car?

Cheers for the advice

Just be ready for unexpected bills. Mine went in for a new starting motor, ended up need a new "throttle body" as well; £1500 for the throttle body part alone! Not cheap to run, I spent more running mine for 4 years than I did my previous four Porsches; well it seemed that way!

I had one for 3 years (2004-2007), and as will all of these kind of cars the more you use them the less likely they are to break. With the 3200 I have only one real recomendation, DO NOT change the exhaust to an aftermarket one. The boom you get at 30-35mph is incredibly irritating.

Other than that my car never broke down or gave me any kind of trouble apart from a sticking solenoid which I changed myself for a few quid.

Dude
Not sure if this info is too late. I bought my Maserati 3200 GT just before the new year. Within 10 minutes of driving away and paying up the cash, the engine warning light came on. Took it to a main dealer and they said the knock sensor had failed, a common problem on these cars, a cost of £1100 to replace....??? Then whilst they had it they did a thorough check of the car, a new turbocharger pipe was needed, as was some wiper clips, the brakes all needed redrilled, new pads and discs on the back( will be doing them myself), a complete refurb of all the wheels, (lots of kerbage), a new bonnet vent, new badges on the C pillars and a complete machine detailng, with the underside of the car being undersealed. Admittedly some of the work is being done as I want the car looking in showroom condition when I pick it up, however the cost of everything, not the rear discs and pads, is just over £3K, so yes an expensive outlay seeing as how I have just bought the car but seriously, what a machine, I smile everytime I get in it, the performance, the comfort, the looks, worth every penny. I just hope I don't have to shell out so much too soon....lmao. Good Luck with your choice, you hopefully won't regret it if you get a good one.

I'm finding servicing the most expensive i've experienced - but then i'm used to Audi/BMW/Mercedes service costs, and those are hardly marques you can get emotional about... Budget enough and you'll be fine.

Out of curiousity, did you get a PPI and if you did, did any of the above show up and consequently get negotiated off the price?

Whatever you do, do NOT go to a main dealer...with both Maseratis I have owned for the last 7 odd years (and my wife a Spyder for 4 months) I have found all of them to be spectacularly dishonest.

I used Bill McGrath and they were a breath of fresh air compared to the others, also they run the Club which is well worth joining.

As with all these cars I would recomend buying one where the milage is reasonable for its age, for example a 8yr old car with 8000 miles is going to be extraordinarily expensive as years of problems will surface the moment you actually start driving it. I would suggest about 5000 miles per year minimum.

mod edit, no name and shaming please nono
