Camera/lens mount movement

Hi all,

Just a quicky about something i have noticed. On my Canon DSLR (50d) there is a small amount of rotational movement (probably about 1mm or so), but enough that its noticeable, between the lens and the camera body. This is most noticeable on my sigma 120-400, but is also present on my Canon 50mm 1.8 and 60mm 2.8.

Just want to know if other canonists have noticed this and if it is normal or not.

Normal. Tolerances will be such that a small amount of movement is almost inevitable.

Same here (Nikon). A pin has to drop into a hole to lock the lens - if the tolerance was too tight it might fail to lock.

Cheers for clearing that up guys, i was thinking/hoping that would be the case, but i just thought id check while the camera was still under warrenty
