TVR road trip across europe

Ok this may not be the right place to put it but thought it would probably fall on deaf ears in the travel section.

Basicly myself and a couple of friends are planning on a road trip before le mans in my new Chim I get next week and an one or 2 other cars

Main things to include are

Ferry to Bilbao
Barcelona
Milau Viaduct
Nice/Monte Carlo
and most important stelvio and surrounding areas

now we have travelled round France and Italy before and probably have a rough idea on where to go, but the rest I have no idea about, so do any of you guys have any places to recommend either visiting, staying or roads that MUST be driven?

i'd add the nurburgring and reims "ghost" gp in on the way to LM.

cheers Andy, never ever seen about the deserted track at Reims! that is definitely on the list now!

We had thought about the ring but have all done it before and its bit further north than we were planning + not everyone on the group is so keep on going. personally Id prefer to spend the money I'd spend on petrol and have a full day at Donnington rather than a couple of interrupted laps round the ring.

Also think we may look at going to Picos de Europa before we head over to Barcelona aswell, looks stunning.

That route is taking you very close to the Route Napoleon and The Route des Grande Alps so might be worth considering doing one of those.

I'd also consider a night or two at one of the Italian Lakes. Lake Maggiori is right on your route.

any excuse for the ring for me.

if going to Barcelona, have a word with Jasper Guilder on here. He qoes several times a year with all supercars and does Guadix circuit in southern spain. (possibly too far again) but he knows spain.

Reims is usually our lunch stop after the channel but would be good for the return.
Very atmospheric and they've done it up a bit now. The circuit itself is now main roads.

The alpine passes are shut in winter or snow fall.

They are full of tourists, busses, campers...in peak season.

Pick dates wisely!

if you have never done reims its a must
every time i go over to france i stop there
was better before they started doing it up,but they had to do something
before it was lost
have a good trip, we did a great s run in september
check out s forum for pics also was in sprint

yes we suffered from this last time we went in early May, stelvio and most passes were still closed, still loads of awsome roads to enjoy though nd made it more stunning with whole lakes frozen over still (very bad winter that year)

we wont be booking much at all so if we see before we go they are still shut for some time then we will just choose a different route, I would be gutted though if i dont get to take the chim up stelvio!

Leaving on the 29th on an over night ferry, so will be a different place each night with a couple of days in places like barcelona, lakes etc (lakes will definately be done)

will look into those passes aswell, the grande alpes one looks promising! cheers.

has anyone ever travelled through the parc national des cevennes? if so are they good driving roads or are they mainly for hikers/cyclists?

also for anyone interested here's a updated map after some further work and research (some bits like the parc will probably change once i find out which are the best roads.)

if you send me your number I'll happily go through my recommendations over a beer sat at the end of the mulsanne

I keep on making changes at the moment, the main bit I'm unsure of is from bilbao - Barcelona, whether the national park is the best way to go or if the roads are too narrow and too many villages or if it will be very peaceful (until the tiv comes along obviously! ) and be great for pics etc

Kind of, moved from Coalville to Lichfield now, but still have family over that way so should make it to some local meets come summer and if there's ever anything happening at Mallory or donno just gimme a shout and I'm there!
