Our entry this year will be sung by Blue. I can see us getting nil point again.

According to someone I know, apparently our song last year was a revamped Stock Aitken and Waterman song that was written in the 80's and offerred to the SAW stable of artists at the time who all turned it down.

I predicted the three songs I thought would do well last year and they all came in the top 3.

Looks like I'm too late to get tickets to the final, unless anyone knows better???

Nuts, Dusseldorf isn't really THAT much of a drive.

Am I right in thinking, the BBC are choosing the tune this year and not the great unwashed?

The UK has some fantastic musical talent.

Why couldn't someone offer a good band some money to do it.

Because good bands wouldn't want to do it. They know that tactical voting means they'd not win. Unless we field a pretty 16-year-old girl or something quirky and unusual, we don't stand a chance.

If a band of likes of Kassabian or Muse were to perform it is the only chance we have, proper UK quality music.

We all know we have no chance with something quirky & unusual or a 16 year old girl.

It's a shame televoting brings in so much money now. The only way we'll ever stand a realistic chance of winning Eurovision nowadays is if we go back to jury voting. There's just too much tactical voting from the newbie countries (okay, and some of the old suspects as well!). GB only has Ireland to vote for it.

I think one year we should try and get Muse to enter, they can do a killer song and perform it like they would at a stadium gig. Then when they still come last and prove that the whole of Eurovision is a joke, not enter again and withdraw our funding for it.

We don't provide any funding for it except for own own losers I suppose, the host nation pays for it. We are merely a founding member (1950) of the European Broadcasting Network and if we pull out you can forget about receiving any European coverage of any events (F1, Football, Olympics, news, events) unless the BBC or ITV spent billions on completely new infrastructure to carry its own feeds and buy their own licenses to broadcast at hyper-inflated prices. smile

I'm not sure that's true. I may well be wrong, but I thought the reason we got a buy to the final every year was related to how much money we sunk into it every year.

I'm happy to corrected though.
