We would like to get into some kind of healthy sport, but can't really think of anything suitable. We're trying to save money at the moment, so ideally a sport with little to no initial outlay, and cheap to participate in.

Also, preferably something that involves little running (she hates running), although she likes playing squash, so that level of running's ok.

Any ideas?

Dont know if you would call it sport as such, but hiking. if you go for the more challenging walks, it's aerobic, and as long as you have some decent footwear and coats, shouldnt cost the earth either. Failing that, as someone has said, cycling

Racketball - easier to get up to speed with than squash...

I'd go for tennis. local courts can be hired hourly really cheaply, racquet and balls can be had cheaply at most big sports shops. You can make it as intensive as you want and it's sociable too

Cycling would be the favourite, but my bike is broken and 90 miles away, and she doesn't have one unfortunately.

Badminton might be a goer, and I like the hiking idea.

I'd also like to do some watersports (ooh-err) but I can't imagine it's very cheap and it's very cold at the moment.

Thanks for the suggestions so far.

ETA: tennis could be good, but it's similar to squash, but with added running around to pick up the balls from miles away once we've missed them/hit the net/smacked it the wrong way hehe

I can't believe it took 15 replies before this one popped up.

Rock Climbing - indoor in the winter, outside in great locations in the summer.

Won't badminton be quite expensive at £10 a pop? I think it's about that at my local centre and it can get a bit repetitive playing the same person again and again if you don't join a club, but I guess that's true for most one-on-one sports.
Hiking would be a good one as you can easily mix it up to vary the walks, take it on holiday, etc.
