Can't comment on fitting but the labour cost was pretty reasonable for getting one done at Wilsons so it can't be all that complicated (assuming complicated = expensive!). I had the short shift and Eliseparts linkage kit fitted and the gearshift is pretty slick (for a k series anyway). Takes a little bit of getting used to, second gear still requires a little more attention than the others for some reason but I believe this is not uncommon. Once your used to it I think it definitely improves the whole driving experience.

Hi Rocket.

Bear with me...its a little early for me. Jesus "coilovers" Christ! There IS light at this time!

Anyway, I didnt fit it myself, although i cant be sure exactly how much it cost as i was having other bits and bobs done at the same time.

However it did only take >1hour so cant be that much in labour. Also the kit comes with detailed instructions so you can probably do it yourself (with simple tools).

Benefits?

if coupled with the short shifter (get a discount and the instructions if you buy both from www.eliseparts.com ) then the benefits are that the "stifness" or "difficulties" you get in shifting are gone. The gears can be selected quicker and the changes are more crisp. The short shifter reduces the throw between gears and really makes a difference.

My car is in a "heavy" state of "tune" (without 'charger/internals), but if i had to pick one "mod" to keep...it would be the shifter+kit. It is that good

I fitted the Eliseparts short shift kit and gear linkage kit a few weeks ago (bought them at the Donington show).

Very straightforward to fit - took me about 2 hours, but I wasn't rushing.

Most difficult bits were getting the gearknob off the old shifter without damaging it - very tight indeed - and removing the rear undertray for the linkage kit!

Together, they have transformed the shift action and as such I view them as being well worth the money.

To be honest though. I think that the linkage kit has made more difference than the quick shift, and then only because of the replacement of the rubber bushes at the ends of the gearshift cables with a pair of 20p solid plastic bushes from the Eliseparts kit - I couldn't see anywhere else in the linkage mechanism where the OE Lotus parts would have given any more play/compliance than the Eliseparts replacemenents.

Anyone just fitted the linkage kit on it's own? Always thought the short shift would cancel out some of the gains of the linkage kit in terms of lightness of throw? Never had a problem with the length of throw myself.

Tried the 111R throw on a static car last week and it felt very nice.
