Afternoon Gents

What are your thoughts on useing a jet wash on the elise? would it damage it, would it cause damage to stuff behind the vents Etc, how would the roof react to it?

Personally I wouldn't let a jet wash near my car, particularly one of the ones with gritty foamy brushes!

The high pressure of the jet forces water into places that it wouldn't get to in normal driving or washing, which can't be a good thing.

I've jet washed mine, with no adverse effects - it even stayed pretty watertight..... which suprises most people.

I didn't ues a brush though - just the sprayer.

I use my own jet wash (not the garage jobbie) nearly every week or 2 (no Im not a GJOB, 2 weeks is 1-2K miles to me and usually when I cant see out of the windows!)

Anyway - its fine for wetting the car and rinsing on low pressure, I only use the high pressure on the wheels...5 mins of Wonder Wheels, a quick blast and they come up like new

No i would not use one myself herd too many horor stores from pepole how have wether it be home use or garage jobies. My dad used to be a pannel beater and car srayer he always warned me off of useing power washers. Also some sope washes work by water running off the car not being blasted off.

OK - so maybe that wasn't a good idea then......

I will now refrain from jet washing due to being scared of the damage!

Whatever you do do not let the pressure washer near any lotus stickers on the back (such as 111S etc) it will remove them in an instance.

Best way, is to hose your car first to remove grit and general road dirt, then use a good shampoo and sponge to wash and finish with a chamios Leather/Wax Polish - Forget the home jet wash that is for the patio!

Agreed - I use 2 sponges, one for a quick clean off of dirt with warm water, then wash is properly with a decent shampoo (Autoglym) before chamois and a good polish with 'glym. Lasts for ever, water beads off it like a ducks back.

Oh yeah, and don't forget a spot of wonderwheels to get the brake grime off your rims!

You can't beat a bit of elbow grease!

I used to use autoglym but the shop i go to to get all my cleaning stuff told me to try meguires.
I have never looked back the stuff is amazeing and a bit cheaper as well the gold class poslish is the best wax i have ever used. Your car gets so shiney i looks wet.I also use the stage 1,2,3 paint care products meguairs do monthly just to keep the paint looking fresh. For the wheels i use meguairs hot wheels and it has a wax in it so when there clean and dry you buff them up with a soft cloth and your wheels we be realy shiney.
You should track some down and give it a go.

Cheers for the info guys.

I think I'll give it a traditional scrub. I spent a fortune on all the right cleaning stuff for everything from SHampoo to roof cleaner when I first got the car but have only used it a couple of times as I get a bit lazy with it. If it's nice this weekend I'll give the little fella some lovin (the car that is).

Yeah I've been eyeing that up down at Halfwits - will give it a crack when I run out of 'glym.
