We are booked to go to Egypt at the beginning of April. 1 week cruise on the Red Sea and 1 week in a hotel in Sharm. I know at the moment they are saying that Sharm area is okay but I'm getting twitchy.
With all the recent troubles what should I do? Wait and see if it all settles down or try and book something else?

My OH lives and works there at the moment and basically what you have is this:
Plus she lives in the safest location in cairo which is Zamalek, they have barracaded the bridges (only way to the island) with a policy of the locals not allowing not locals across and beatings have been handed out to stop possible looters even if they are trying to escape.
- Uk flights have been turned back and not sure if this has changed.
- The looting has started.
- mobile phones are sparadic and so you will not be able to contact people going there easily.
- Food and water is being stocked up by the locals, so dont expect many places to have food, resturants are not known to be open.
- No internet.
- lots of gunships and planes doing fly bys at all times of the night.
- Embassies are evacuating people, India, France, Spain and US are already gone, so if they have been moved out, do you not think its a bad idea to go?

Wouldn't have me at the moment I'm afraid...I can only see things getting worse and although tourism is pretty much the only industry in Sharm, it still doesn't mean that they like us.
TBF Sharm IS a long way from Cairo, but I still do not think I would risk it when there are other places you could go without any worries whatsoever.
I don't like the idea of my phone not working either.

I'm supposed to be flying to Hurgharda in Aprill for a family holiday. Inlaws have a place out there. I'm not keen. It's closer to the trouble than sharm. I think i'm just going to pull out. I can go anywhere in the world. Unfortunately they have invested heavily so i'd imagine they'll be going anyway.

The mood at the moment is that if you look like a westerner you will be fine as its them verse the government, they have been welcoming my oh with open arms and no hostility. My friend went to a red sea resort on Friday. They're due back this Friday.
So far there is no trouble where they are. They are there for a photography convention, and on Monday night all the girls went out, but the lads refused to because there were soldiers with guns out. Very ashamed of them.
Surely April will be fine.
