Nice case and finishing; in this era they were the sister company to Omega, (under the SIHH group), a billy bargain if you like the look Bry. Tissot are certainly a little overlooked in terms of vintage watches I think.

Here's mine (Navigator):

Cheap tat when it was new, now just old cheap tat.

Sorry, it`s gonna hurt but someone`s gotta be brave and tell you.

Was a 2nd/3rd or 4th division ranking watch when new, age hasn't moved it up the rankings .

Mmmm. 'tat' for me is 99p, this is £99; but granted it's not £990 either. It's more a 'workingmans watch' but there's little wrong with the quality. Except the bracelet - that is tat, I speak from experience.
The watch is still ticking after 30 odd years though and a good brushed/grained finish on a good case. The dial is a little plain, hands typical Tissot style, applied markers (love 'em or hate 'em) and an overall 'style' at least - when you look at the details and the contemporaries.
I'm no Tissot fan boy, I got interested via the Lemania connection, and mine is just brilliant as a casual sports chrono. A one subdialled chrono is relatively uncommon and works really well in terms of dial clarity and readability and Tissot had a few takes on how to do it.

Anyway, beauty in the eye of the beholder and all that...?

Bry - the bracelet is poor, and it'll be difficult to refinish a grained case like that if it's got a scar across it, but if you like it, go for it - there's one for everyone.

If gadgeted watches are an interest then todays offerings are interesting. I'd probably still go Suunto/G-Shock myself but each to his own equally.

Wiki-Says said:
Tissot introduced the first mass-produced pocket watch and the first pocket watch with two times zones in 1853[1] and the first anti-magnetic watch in 1929-30. Charles-Emile Tissot left for Russia in 1858 and succeeded in selling their savonnette pocket watches across the Russian Empire.[1]
The Tissot company was also the first to make watches out of plastic (IDEA 2001 in 1971), stone (the Alpine granite Rock watch in 1985), mother of pearl (the Pearl watch in 1987), and wood (the Wood watch in 1988).[2]
Tissot merged with the Omega watch making family in 1930 and Tissot-Omega watches from this era are sought after by collectors.
Still based in Le Locle, Switzerland and present in more than 150 countries around the world, Tissot has been a member of The Swatch Group Ltd., the largest watch producer and distributor in the world, since 1983.[3]
Tissot is an official timekeeper for the world championships in cycling, motorcycling, fencing and ice hockey, and was used for the Davis Cup in 1957 and Downhill Skiing in Switzerland in 1938. Tissot was also a key Sponsor for the Formula one teams Lotus, Renault and Sauber.

Tissot has become known in recent years for its tactile, or "T-Touch," technology; several new watches have touch-sensitive sapphire glasses and include compasses, barometers, altimeters and thermometers. One of the most feature-rich T-Touch watches was the legendary "High-T", which featured atomic time, vibrating alarm, dual time, stop watch, count down timer, weather forecast, lottery results, movie listings, headline news, Outlook sync, ability to receive short messages via Windows Live Messenger, downloadable watch faces and even included a rechargeable battery with included USB charger. T-Touch watches have been recently featured on Angelina Jolie's wrist in the movies Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life and Mr. & Mrs. Smith.
Famous people who have worn Tissot watches include the actress Sarah Bernhardt, singer Carmen Miranda, Elvis Presley, Grace Kelly, and Nelson Mandela.[1] James Stewart also wears a Tissot watch in the movie "Rear Window".
