Freelander 2.5 V6I ES - Headgasket Problems
Discussion
I am about to buy a Freelander. I understand the 1800 petrol car will need a headgasket / cambelt at about 50,000 miles and for that reason I intend to get: either 1) A facelift petrol model with less than 50,000 and renew the gasket before it goes or 2) a TD4 with about 60-80,000 miles.
Before I do commit, can anyone advise on whether the 2.5 V6I has the same headgasket problem please.
Also what kind of fuel consumption I could expect. I have seen a few about and the prices look reasonable for the mileage. They appear to be a good buy. Grateful for any tips.
Thanks
GG

V6 dont do much over 25mpg, my td4 gave me 38 from the last tank.
Blank the EGR (£56) and replace the hoses with silicone ones (£106) and you have a good engine.
Mine runs like a swiss clock, burns no oil and when fed with shell diesel is quiet and doesnt smoke much. Can still get a sooty cloud if i drive it gently for a while then floor it. Strangely funny to watch in the mirrors.
