Electrical fault, or more....

I was out for a drive on Sunday and had a very odd thing happen in my M3. I was slowing down through the SMG box (not in auto), dropped it into 2nd and everything electrical just went dead - stereo, dashboard, lights, even the powersteering felt like it went, although I was in a straight line so couldn't really tell. It was sat at about 3-4k revs at the time, maybe a bit less. Everything came back on within about 3 or 4 seconds, barely even long enough for me to notice had I not had the stereo on.

Has anyone else had or heard of something similar? I'm not too concerned as I've had it a few months and it's the only time it's happened, but I just want to check if anyone has experience of something like this?

(It's an '04, E46 M3 convertible BTW)
