I'm doing a feature wall and the covering uses a non-woven base paper. So far I've followed the advice of using a heavyweight lining paper (which I have cross-lined) but the wallpaper manufacturer is recommending a 'good quality fungicide-protected, wheat-based pre-mixed tub paste'. It goes on to say that powder pastes are not suitable (adhesion and staining problems) and that PVA or PVC adhesives should not be used.

Had a look at the usual DIY stores and the products they have do not state if they are wheat-based / PVA or PVC free.

Will Solvite ready mixed do the trick or can anyone recommend a good brand/product, please?

Ta.

Sounds like the maker is trying to say a brand but can't. Maybe give them a call?

If you google that phrase, there's a PDF that mentions it's available from "halls beeline" (on my iPhone and CBA to CnP links)

Just about all the generic brands of paste you find in DIY shops will be PVA or PVC based adhesive.

Even the usual Decorators merchants don't normally stock wheat (starch) based ones.

Companies such as Today Interiors, Helen Sheene and Cole & Son.

This link should give you some pointers - this is the stuff I use more than anything else.
