Does anyone sell a quick shift kit for the MK1?
Is it worth the effort and how do you fit it?

there is one that raises teh fulcrum point of the stick. personally i don't like it as it makes it too notchy. in fact i've got one on the track car that i want to remove as soon as i can find a standard stick to go back on.

I had one on a previous MX5 (fitted by the previous owner). It was the worst thing about the car by a country mile.

The MX5 gear change is one of the best there is - it doesn't need "improving"

Referred to by EVO as a nicer than a Zonda's. Why would you want to mess with that?

My Mk 1 had a quickshift on it when I bought it and it was the first thing to go (replaced by a standard gear lever from MX5 Heaven) - the shift force was just far too high with the quickshift on and it really needed thumping into gear. It just didn't feel right at all if you drive with a bit of mechanical sympathy normally.

I've a quickshift kit at the moment and it does make fast 1st to 2nd changes quite difficult. Personally wouldn't bother, not really any performance benefit.
