Multiple Driver Series & Races ?

Hi I'd like to know all the race series and races that I can enter this season,
Also would love to know the most cost effective/reliable/powerful car to run with an all in budget of approx £20k

Some more info would be helpful. Like, what level of license do you have? What have you raced in before? Which country are you in? Where are you able to race? Etc?

What does "all-in" mean, for example does it include paying someone to repair the car or will you be doing that yourself?

Thanks to clarify I'm in the UK, will be getting a racing b license shortly, and all in means the cost of race entries, and upfront car cost, not considering maitenance, and he inevitable damage bills; preferably nothing with ridiculous tyre costs however do realise this could easily be a 2-5k cost...thanks again

On a ratio of tracktime:cost I'd guess that something like the VW Fun Cup gives you the best deal. I think they run three of four drivers per event, so you could split the costs quite easily between multiple drivers.

You can also split the driving in the Tintops series, but the races are much shorter.

Or look at the production classes in Britcar???

There are ONLY 2 real options here.... As Garrett says Fun Cup in a hire drive Petrol car with JPR because it sounds like your a novice.

If you fancy something allot less competitive but sometimes faster and equally as much fun then you need to head to the CSCC (Classic Saloon Car Club) for their series like the Tin Tops, Mag 7's, German cars series etc. You could do 2 seasons of racing on £20K in Tin Tops if you were that way inclined!!

thanks guys will look at the cssc options, on the britcar production front if I only did a few races which class and what choice of car would you recommend, also how mnany7 drivers could you have in a britcar race vs a tintops mag 7's race?

CSCC series are:

Tin Tops (saloons & hatches up to 2 litres)
Future Classics (saloons, hatches, GTs & Sports upto 1990 MY, any capacity)
Magnificent 7s (Locaterfield type cars)
Swinging Sixties (all cars up to the end of 1969 MY)
Classic K (Appendix K compliant cars)
Deutsche Marque (All German cars post 1990)

All the races are 40 minutes long (plus a one hour race at Spa) with a compulsory pit stop for one or two drivers (single drivers get out & get back in again). Costs are as low or as expensive as you want but I reckon are as good VFM as you will get. I have raced in Tin Tops with a £2K Fiat Uno & a set 6 of tyres (Yoko A048s or any List 1B tyre) lasted me a full season. You could buy a Porsche 924 for about £3K & race the same car in the BRSCC's Porche Club championship (single drive sprint races only); the sub 2 litre class within CSCC Future Classics, the 360 Motor Racing Club's 6 hour race at Snetterton in April (http://360mrc.com/ - 3 drivers could share?)& also get an invite with the CSCC to a 300 Km race at the Nurburgring in October (pre 1981 cars invited only).

I have been known to be biased(!)but have raced with the CSCC in Tin Tops for about 4 years & I really have no desire to race anywhere else on my budget.

If you pick the right car, say an Alfa 33 or Golf Gti, you can race in Tin Tops AND in Future Classics (as well as some of the other races I mentioned) & thus get 2 x 40 min races in one day (second race at a small discount). At some meetings, the CSCC also has the last race of the day as a 15 or 20 minute sprint race, Sports Vs Saloons, & this can be entered by single drivers for about £100 if you have already raced earlier in one of the other races.

Plenty of track time for your money and should all be easily within your budget!

Membership of the CSCC is £35. Series Registration is £95 (discounted if you want to register for a second series as well) & race entry fees for a single 40 min race vary from about £280 at Anglesey to £325 at the more expensive MSVR owned tracks.

The CSCC will have a stand at the Race Retro show at Stoneleigh over the w/e of 25/26/27 Feb with a few cars on display. Come along if you want a chat. I'll be there on the friday but other Committee members will be there all 3 days.

You could do full season of FunCup on that budget, JPR hire cars out and are great to deal with, very friendly, helpful and professional. I did two races with them last year, enjoyed myself so much that I have bought a car to do the whole season. It is extremely competitive, great fun to do as a team of drivers and all the races are a minimum of 3 hours long, so you get tons of driving! I can't recommend it enough.

Do you want to have the best setup in your series, or do you want to enter 'the best' or 'the most prestigious' series?

The reason I ask is that if you want to have the best setup with mech work done on your car in between races (other than just maintenance) plus have a contingency budget, unless you'll do a fair chunk of work yourself, I think you'll struggle...especially if you consider buying the car in the first place.

You'll need a National A licence (UK)

Ma5da series, 120 MX5 MK1's entered, divided into three grids of 40, each group races each other over a weekend. Close racing in near identical cars & its televised on Motors TV too.

A mate is running a couple of rental turn up & drives for about 12k per car, inludes tyres, prep, transport maintenance - damage is extra. I can give you his number if you like.
