If you have an RAC Trackstar, call them NOW to see if it works. I've just tested mine, as have a number of other subscribers and they have NOT WORKED!!!!

Please post you findings.

I wish I'd never heard of the company now

I found out mine wasn't working (on a Caterham several years ago)... then found out it never had Gave 'em an earful and have had tracker in all cars since (which DO work as when I tow and forget to mention to them, they ring up the Mrs and tell her my car is moving without the key in the ignition).

Just bought a vehicle with RAC Trackstar fitted - sent them a mail (as they requested on the phone) to notify them I am the new keeper. Got an autoresponse saying someone will be in touch. No one called back.

Rang them a week later, they said they have no records of either the vehicle or the previous owner details who had it installed (despite having 2 years worth of correspondence from them - invoices, installation confirmation etc - with both the vehicle details and owners name on them).

They were happy to leave the call as 'sorry we can't find any details' and leave it at that, had to push them to carry out investigations which is ridiculous. They have sent me some forms to fill out now with car details etc, but have still not confirmed they have found the details on their system.

Had my car towed a few weeks ago (dodgy bit of parking - not causing any obstruction; just overhanging the end of a double yellow slightly ) - which was useful in that it showed up the fact that my tracking system (which should alert me if the car moves) wasn't working.

Had it fixed FOC at the weekend, so all's ok, but was wondering if the company in question would be in any way liable if the car had been thieved?
