Recommendations for places to stay near Monza

I'm planning a trip to Monza for the F1 race this year, followed by a week cruising round Lake Como with the missus and baby daughter. Would love to hear of any recommended places to stay / avoid for the F1 weekend? We'll have a hire car.

Myself and the wife stayed in http://polo.hotelsinmilan.it on our honeymoon. Nice enough place, about 10km outside the chaos of Milan. We took the car to the local shopping centre and parked for free, then it was a free bus from there to the closest bus stop to the entrance to Monza. From there it was approx a 1km walk to our seats (inner parabolica).

If you're taking a child, make sure to get a seated grandstand, the free-for-all stands can be a bit hectic.

Don't even attempt to drive to the circuit, it's madness, even by Italian standards.

Oh, and the Italian grand prix is FULL of Germans. They seem to prefer Monza to Hockenheim.
