is it possible to turbocharge my 1.6 16v?
Discussion
Sell your 1.6 16v whatever and buy a starlet turbo.
Spend a grand on it(exhaust, downpipe, intercooler, induction, remap) and you'll have 200 reliable HP in an 850kg car.
It'll be quicker than your Dad's 330i which you TWOC and instead of oversteering into a tree and damaging his car you'll understeer into a tree and hurt yourself

here is how to drift your dads beamer
1 go hard into a corner
2 dab of brakes to unstabalise the backend
3 stamp the loud pedal and opposite lock when the back starts to move
suggest you try on GT5 before daddies pride and joy!
Probably won't work that though, BMW set the current cars up for passive understeer (to keep idiots from hurting themselves) i suggest go relatively slowly into a corner (so you haven't overloaded the front tyres) in 2nd gear atpeak torque rpm (4000rpm ish). Then give the car a very decent send (flick the handwheel rapidly onto lock), and as you feel the car begin to yaw, stap the throttle to the floor. After that it's down to skill, so i suggest the OP phone for a recovery truck BEFORE taking the first steps as it will save a lot of time later!1 go hard into a corner

But on the turbo front, you can turbo anything! The question really is "have i the money and skills to turbocharge my car". generally, it will always be easier, cheaper (and a lot more insurable) to just buy a faster model from the manufacturer.

This. Just get a 1.8 20v Turbo instead. They're pretty quick, as I can attest.
Definitely. This will be much less work.If you really want to stick with the 1.6 then you might want to look into the MINI Supercharger (eaton M45). Would be easier to get working than a turbo. Just a thought.
