For Flux Sake...
Discussion
Hi guys... After finding out a while back that I own Ian Flux's old Streber car from 95/96 (no.22). I thought it might be cool to put his logo on the car as he apparently always used to race with it stuck on the car, and stickers were handed out with race programs. Anyway the logo apparently says 'For Flux Sake!' but I can't find any pictures of it on the net (or the car). If anyone has any pictures of this (even if rubbish quality) please let me know and I'll try and get one made up for the car. Thanks!
There is a mention of the sticker here ...

Great, thanks Gary that'll do nicely! I've got to start looking at getting the car stickered up fairly soon so I'll include this... Now I wonder if I can get hold of Mr Flux himself for a bit of driver training/car setup?! Does he still drive?
iirc he is a mate of a guy that runs a rolling road, he's certainly mentioned him when i've had the tuscan on his rollers I'll see if i can dig out his numberG
I work with Chris Smith who ran Flux's cars for him through Streber motorsport which he owned ,along with 9 other cars,Also I work with Colin who was his Mechanic on his car for many years. He has signed photo's of his cars on the garage wall and are his pride and joy.If you want me to ask them about your car no problem, you would have to know the colour scheme he ran it in to be sure the info relates to your car.with them looking after 9 cars wires get crossed so to speak.
Thanks very much for the offer Perry! I have actually emailed Chris a couple of times over the past couple of years to find out some of its history. It was sold to the guy I bought it from in Sweden by Amanda Whitaker. I mentioned this to chris and he sent me an email including the following:
"car built 1989 for andrew usher, sold to team central 1993, used by ian flux in 1995 9 wins after fitting ajp to replace rover, rebuilt winter 1995/6 painted yellow [ chassis should be yellow ] won first time out silverstone and continued winning until new car was ready from the factory { met green] car then raced by bobby verdon roe until last race at donnington where flux and roe swopped cars for a bet. 1997 car driven off and on by matt doman. then sold 1998 ish to amanda's father Ron. [flux won championship in 1996 ].
The race no for the car when driven by flux was 22 and i think 23 when driven by bobby."
That's about the most info I can find on the car, but I have a couple of photos of it from its life including:

I have taken a couple of photo's of the cars that colin has on the wall so not brilliant but may be of use the first one won the championship and the second one i forgot to ask about.Colin said if you want to talk to him no problem e mail me your number and col will give you a call ( he is a tad more reliable than chris )
i don't know how to post multiple pic's so bear with me....

Just managed to dig up another email from Chris from last year...
"if the car came from amanda it is the car flux used over a three year period. it was red with a yellow nose and the became yellow with a red nose.
was also driven by bobby verdon roe. the car has had many race wins."
This seems to point toward the second picture. He also makes reference to the met green one in the other email (posted above), saying that this is the one that replaced my car.
Thanks for the help Perry, interesting stuff to find out given that when I got the car it had been in Sweden for 10 years and no one knew its history other than it had been bought from Amanda Whitaker!

nick i'm watching the 95 season on video at the moment and it appears your car is the red / yellow one according to the comentator at any rate.95 was the transitional year from rover to AJP and your car was i think Rover powered at Donnington although it is red at this stage without the yellow bib.your car qualified in 4th 1.28.04 not bad as the three cars infront were AJP.I assume the metalic green car was flux's new AJP car used late in 95 or for 96 season. Not sure of the date in 1995 but when they get to Castle combe your car has turned into full yellow and has an AJP fitted it qualified in 3rd 1.02.01 remember there are no chicaines at combe this year.as an aside i raced at combe August last year in the GT race and shilling lapped at 1.02.64 in his radical in my race with chicaines.

NickFluxie is on my facebook, I have chatted with him lots over the years, find him on my page and request him with a message? You will however need deep pockets to get him out in your car as he was £1k day!!! Last couple of times I have seen him he was working for Radical, incl the Autosport show. Hope that helps.
Regards to all

Great, thanks for the info Perry! I may have to get a copy of that video at one of the race meets if that would be ok with you? I've looked high and low on the internet for pictures from 95/96 and have found nothing at all! Although I did find some videos of the 89/90 seasons and my car should have been in there somewhere driven by Andrew Usher though the videos don't state which car was his and I don't know his race number.Edited by wadsapple on Thursday 3rd February 16:54

Anyway, yes the Met green one was Flux's new AJP car at the end of 96 (at this point my car was being driven by Bobby VR). I wonder how the car now would compare to how it was then in speed terms..! Should be quite a bit quicker I hope (probably not with me driving it though

No problem , for obvious reasons i won't be lending the video out, it has all the races of 95 0n it and as it happens your car features in every race from combe onwards with the AJP in it.The AJP cars that season left the rover one's in the back ground so not so much TV coverage. If i can find an affordable way of copying the video onto disc i'll do you a copy.
