Found this lurking on top of the undertray underneath the alternator area, it's about 18mm x 8mm and chamfered at both ends, Any suggestions.

That looks like a starter motor dowel to me? I'll check tomorrow, mine is still off prior to re-installing my fuel tank.

OP,

The lat time I saw a pin like that, it was a detent pin from a 911 gearbox. It had destroyed 1/2 the box and snapped the crown wheel clean off the diff by the time it got where it was going.

No idea what Nobles are like, but you might want to work it out before going anywhere =)

If you could that would be good.

RE Daddy and Funkster; I found it opposite end/side to gearbox/bell housing so it would have to have moved a bit to come from there.

No Snuffy I didn't find those but when I do find my 4mm hex key that I have recently lost somewhere on the car I'll post a picture so you can have another go at tool spotting!biggrin

Rob, it looks to me like the dowel that sits in the front cover and locates in the block, its an open hole from the rear so you might be able to tap it back in if the holes line up, it sits just below the air con where the crank sensor is.

Hi Matt

I think you could be in line for the prize based upon where I found the dowel.

Will have a look when I get home tonight.

Thanks to all other entrants to the quiz (except Snuffy).

Mike.
I measured one today, 18.4mm x 8.9mm

Probably the same dowel as used in the front cover pic above from Matt?
