hi guys i am wondering what everyones opinion is about sagaris future values long term my car was 1 owner when i purchased in december last year and has done 4700miles fsh would it be a good investment for the future if i was to dry store the car whilst still keeping it fully serviced each year and maintained but transporting it by trailer not to increase the mileage i know its sad and they are to be used but i think these cars may be if not already are a future classic with very ltd numbers being produced!! how many were made anyone know? i would imagine a few have been written off and a few have been converted to track cars etc!! also i have been told tvr will never be re-born whats your opinions on this as this would make it less likely to hold its value if they were to start making them again but i have been told there is no way that will happen cheers sean

THIS! You have to drive it, otherwise whats the point? I suspect that there are far better things to invest money in if all you are worried about is the return on your investment. These are superb cars, and should be driven, and the experience should be shared with others. Get out there. Get it dirty. Pick up a stone chip here and there. DO IT driving

Hi, i think the Saggy will always hold its money a bit more than most TVRs, but to put it in a cocoon for years will be a waste of time, it will only have a value to anyone who wants one and in general TVRs are not that well collected like other marques. BUT to say TVR are not coming back is a bit of a problem nobody seems to know, i talk to people and they tell me that the new saggy is coming in Jan 2012, then some people tell me it will never happen, all i can say IMHO is that if you put your car away AND the new tvr does arrive i believe you have wasted your time and money, just use the bloody thing and enjoy it, it is only going to go up in value a bit (if at all) so not worth all the aggro....

Sorry...but sell it... put solar panels on a south facing roof and get the FIT payments..OR buy more TVR's to play with, then you can justify not getting around to putting mileage on...I thinks my better half did 283 mile last year in hers.
Adrian@
on 2nd thought I probably did most of those...

I'd say you're 100% correct!

As for the money, my car insurance lists it as a 'future classic'. We know that some of the cars that are either very well known, sorted and modified have gone up in value, and most of the others are static in value.

What will they be worth in a few years? What-ever the market will pay for them. But if the companies surrounding cars believe that they are going to go up in value, then you can rest assured that they will.

I may be slightly guilty of buying cars as a long term investment (Sagaris, Tamora and Escort Cosworth), but they all get properly used (or will do when the Tam is out of build!), and looked after. That's a much better way of looking after your 'investment'.

I think many people are massively over rating what future values may be.

There is absolutely no doubt that the Sag was the best quality, best handling most extreme volume production car that TVR ever made, and there are not that many of them, so there will be clear support for values. They will surely remain amongst the most expensive TVRs with a small handfull of older 'specials' rivalling them and things like the T440s above them.

Some people seem to be thinking that they will go up in value like other collectors cars but this can never happen. There is no global demand for these cars, unlike old porkers, ferraris etc and there is no racing pedigree.

These are not Etypes, Healys, Porkers or Ferraris.

I would say that anyone who is sitting on a Sag and not using it for their own pleasure becuase they think it will be worth a fortune in 40 years time is living in cloud cuckoo land.

Totally agree, the majority of cars that are worth fortunes now have some sort of pedigree and the marque is still going, TVR's are never going to be worth a huge amount more than what you pay for them as the market just isn't there.

Get out and drive them and enjoy them, thats how you get your moneys worthsmile

Only if you are a car salesman trying to sell a car with above average milage.
Low milage cars sell themselves.

The enjoyment and fulfillment you will gain from driving your car would not be achieved by looking at it in your garage.
Some Ferrari owners transport their cars around on trailers and won't go on long drives in case it puts miles on the car.
What's the point of having a car and towing it about the place.
Make lots of speed six noise and let the kids see what a specialist car TVR is.

One day I'd love to own a Sagaris and I won't be storing it or seeing it as some kind of investment...it'll be used as all TVR's should.

You need to ask yourself why you bought the Sag in the first place! I'm pretty sure after the test drive your first thought wasn't "this'll be a great investment!"

You bought the car because of how it made you feel! Go out and use her for what she was made for! If she makes you money then great, if not then at least you have enjoyed your time with her and have no regrets about keeping her couped up for years on end.

Cars as an investment about as risky as a South African Gold Mine IMHO. (CRND for example, my wallets still burning!)

The sagaris might hold it's price quite well over the coming years but as a pension fund, unlikely.

As many others have already said drive the bloody thing, keep the car in as best a condition as you can, but most of all enjoy it.

I haven't driven mine for 2 days now and I'm having withdrawal symptons. As for not using it regularly, the passenger door sticks and this has been cured by opening and closing on a regular basis which bears out previous posts.

I am a true petrol head, i have wasted a lot of money over the short years its been possible for me to own cars, i spend every night on ph, i have driven thousands and thousands of miles purely for pleasure, i dont drink, do drugs or infact have any social life biglaugh i do have a girlfriend and i do have a house.

However i dont have a car any more, well not a fun car, just a grand cherokee and a sprinter van. I spend hours glaring at cars id like to buy, dreaming of owning a nice t350 or a sag or infact anything which is what we deem a toy. Sadly though i come back to reality and realise it could well be 10 years if i'm lucky before i get another proper toy. I am 30, i need to look at future investments for my pension, i need to get through this recession and come out okay, thank fk i dont have kids yet although i'm sure when i do it will put another 20 years on my current 10 year plan.

So with all that said and done keep the thing and enjoy the fk out of it unless you need to sell it. I think if i even sat in a sag after no fun cars for a couple of years i'd get a boner, christ i went in a caymen the other day and even driven sedately by a woman i loved it.

Personally i dont think they will go up an enormous amount, maybe remain static (ish) and get a couple of years free (ish) motoring (running costs aside) for the reasons stated above. Which is why i keep looking at them thinking how good an idea getting one on finance with a massive baloon would be a good idea. I wont though becuase IF TVR do make a comeback with a new sag you can bet your bottom doller it will be astounding and the day that comes current values will plumet and will be only a bit dearer than t350's etc.
