he's a bloody smart bloke when it comes to business. Look how much money he made with his BYD investment in only a couple of years.

I would listen to his opinion on economic matters long before any career politician.

The Chinese are furious with US dollar meddling as well, to the point they want the dollar removed as the worlds international currency.

I've often wondered whether a business leader running the country would be preferable to a politician who has never had a proper job in the 'real world'. At least a business leader understands the implications of political decisions upon the private sector and business, generally I get the impression that politicians think that private business have a never-ending pot of money.....

No one individual runs the country so having a "business leader" as PM would not make such a huge difference.

Indeed, if you look at past Conservative governments in particular you will find individuals who have run very successful businesses.
Polotics is not the same as running a business. Therer are way too many variables to consider.

Trump is certainly familiar of going into bankruptcy due to running up large debts.

Smart enough to have much less money now than what he inherited from his wealthier father but to ensure that the banks are unable to forclose on him for the last decade.

He's a true master of piss and wind. A fascinating study.

Personally I think he is a self serving arse with stupid hair.

I also suspect that this appeals to vain politicians, hence why he got permission to build Trumpland near Aberdeen.

I look forward to the sand dunes which they have disturbed to build his pitch and putt course swamping the course, as a top greenkeeper told me is likely to happen.

Not surprised to hear that he has ended up with less than he inherited.

TBH I wasn't a fan of his, but after reading those comments at least he's on the same wavelength as what most folk are thinking over here.

Pretty sure that's not true. Not a fan of The Donald at all and find the idea of him running for POTUS to be risible but he clawed his way back from bankruptcy to multi billionaire status. He understands the New York property business.

Whilst his hair is ludicrous that of his ridiculous sons, Don Jr and Eric, is far worse. hehe

He's a very bright guy and interesting to listen to but his net worth has never been higher than the day he recieved his inheritance. His inheritance is something he plays down strongly so as to appear that he came from nothing and has built everything from scratch, but the fact is that his father owned enormous swathes of Brooklyn and other outling areas (he was the Groak of NY state wink).

His inheritance was vast and is smarts was to start shifting exposure from these outlying areas to the much more promising but very screwed at the time Manhattan.

However, he is massively leveraged to the tune, it is believed, of up to 10bln but the genuine net worth is a mere fraction.

It is very difficult to source legitimate figures but it is generally believed that his inability to obtain a gambling license in Nevada State was due to not being able to show sufficient capital adequacy along with an interesting history of previous involvements in the gaming industry.

Personally, I think he is brilliant, astute, a perfect marketer and raconteur, and extremely wealthy, but he would have more cash in the bank if he had just sat on his inheritance and the property assets it was made up of.
