reccommend an exterior masory paint ( magnolia)

Any reccommendations ,

tried the B+q 5 year magnolia paint last year and the colour has faded already so will need to get a refund then start over again , any reccommendations

Interested on this myself, hoping to paint ours in the next few weeks.

Any pictures of yours at the moment? I'm not sure what colour to go for, and am looking for inspiration.

As is Dulux Weathershield. Not much to choose between them, though think the Dulux has a tad more elasticity.

very disapointed in the finish after 1 year ( B+Q )5 year guarantee with two coats and after 1 year , looking very weathered also interested on views of using Sandtex or alternative , especialy with 15 years guarantee

It really depends on the property.

Using a modern exterior paint on an old building and you can cause all sorts of problems, not just colour fade.

I need to paint my new garage too so am interested in getting a good paint.
Is it possible to spray sandtex or weathershield??
Maybe a silly Q but whats the difference betweeen cheap interior matt emulsion and silly priced exterior paint - anyone know??

Good quality exterior paint contains fungicide and more plasticisers amongst other things.

i have a house that is rendered , and is built sideways on. so i have a very large frontage with a lot of surface area to paint. with weathershield we paint every four or five years

I just dont get the 15 year guarantee that is advertised on these products ,surely if they are guaranteed for 15 years they should last longer than 4-5 years

the paint is ok its just that stains appear on top of the paint. probably caused by water running off window sills. might try and jet wash it first next time

Try using Dulux Weathershield all seasons.Its solvent based and out lasts anything on the market,also gives a nice sheen finish.

Useful thread as I have to do our tall rendered wall this year. Cant remember what we used but its lasted a good few years.

Quick tip when applying paint to rendered walls try using a car wash sponge for application, it was 10 X better & way faster than a roller sponge

that looks very good , about 42 quid for 5 litres , guessing with two coats I would probably need around 8-10 tins

Start with 4 tins,its got an excellent coverage rate.You have to apply thin coats.

We have a magnolia picket fence right around the frontage of our place...anyone recommend an outside paint for that? Guessing Weathershield do a wood based paint?
