Alarm replacement

I'm looking at getting my alarm replaced in my 94 Griff as the original one only has 1 zapper working and it's the size of my TV remote!

I've been shopping around a bit and have found a few choices of who to do the job and also what alarm to go for.
I've asked for all the old stuff to be removed before the new one is fitted so I was just wondering where all the gubbins are located on my car? (PM if it's deemed dodgy to write on here)

I'm probably going to be going for a CAT 1 TOAD system with remote boot release etc.
Has anyone else had their alarm replaced and if so with what and how much did it all cost?
I'm being quoted £280 for the system, removal of old one and fittment inc certifficate, is that reasonable?

Sorry for all the questions but always like to hear other peoples experiences!

Just had a new cat1 with boot release fitted, your price sounds about right, I paid about the same, go for it!!

Just had mine done by Carl Baker (www.tvruk.tv) new one is the upgraded META so have boot release etc. It also shouldn't upset the Insurance fella's due to being "upgraded factory" spec. Have to say Carl did a fab job really tidied up the existing loom and was very careful with all fitting/fixtures. NOT cheap though inc VAT just over the £500 but he really knows his TVR's and their awkward wiring issues.

If you go for Biggles's option with Carl Baker, at that price with the upgraded META alarm you get a modern style key with alarm and boot release all in one.

One of the main reasons that Carl still uses the Meta alarms is because they seem to be able to cope with the under bonnet heat far better than the rest something to consider i think
