Following on from my coolant question I hope someone can help.

Are the throttle pedals really stiff and notchy or is the one in my OH's Copper just needing some 'oil'.

Secondly, the car has got the flappy paddle auto gearbox. Drive seems to work in geological times. Sport Drive just holds the gear below but does make it more repsonsive. Even then, hard acceleration just results in the engine reving like mad and the speed gradually increasing. Is there any way to get the responsiveness of SD on the D setting.

Combining these two issues makes the car - imo - very unresponsive. Pulling away from lights / junctions is either a delayed snails pace or a racing start. My Dad's 'D' reg Audi 100 estate had a more responsive gearbox!

If there's a technique then please let me know. I think I've tried everything to drive it smoothly but to no avail - it doesn't help that I've had my car for 8-years almost so am probably 'trained' to that.

Cheers,

stabbed rat

I may be wrong here but I believe your car has the older CVT gearbox which was replaced when the R56 mini came out.

I don't think there are many ways to get a good drive from a CVT. I have the newer auto box and whilst its much better than some cars I have driven, its far from perfect. and my MPG is diabolical!
