Growing grass

My current house is the first time I've had my own garden. The back garden is a mess, the lawn is so patchy, boggy and horrible.

We only get a bit of sun at the end of the day, hopefully more in summer when the suns higher.


Anyway, I digress, has anyone tried these>?

It's a rented place so I cant dig it up and chuck gravel down but I intend to be here long term.

It may be quick to lay but if the environment is wrong, the grass will still die.

You can buy grass seed that is specifically formulated for shady areas (so that shouldn't be too much of an issue) but for it to be a success it will all come down to the preparation (drainage/decent topsoil etc).

I'd read about different seeds, but this seemed like a lazy buggers way

Sounds fine. Doesn't the box have any instructions?

Drainage is the key. If its sodden all you'll get is moss.

Why not have an artificial grass lawn, then upon leaving your rented property, you could roll the lawn up and take it with you.
