Need a laugh? Here's the story of my day!

So... heading off this morning to meet some clients on site in Wigan, it's an hour away.
I set off at 9:45 for an 11 o clock meeting, always nice to be early and get prepared, site open etc etc. Ever since an attempted car jacking, I have made a point of locking my doors when I am driving. I arrive on site and need to open the gate so I jump out of the car, car running and open the gate. I'm blocking the only entrance and exit into this industrial estate at this point, but it doesn't matter as there's nobody about and I'll literally be 10 seconds as I hop out, open the gate and jump back in to drive through it.
So, gate is open, I run go back over to the car and... door won't open. Cable inside the door has snapped so the door handle does nothing. Annoying but it's OK, I'll get it sorted later, wander around to the other side of the car to open the passenger door with a view to leaning across and opening the door from the inside. Passenger door is locked as you pull the handle once to unlock the door and again to open it (Z4).
What the hell am I supposed to do now? Handbrake is on, car is running, radio playing to itself, lights are on, phone, wallet and everything else is in the car. It's blowing a gale and I'm wearing no jacket.
Lorries arrive, can't pass, they're honking, slowly but surely a massive queue forms both coming into and going out of the estate. It backs up the main road as nobody else can get past. Carnage.
I borrow a mobile phone to call my OH who then has to leave work, go home, get my spare key and drive to Wigan. Nearly two hours later she arrives and I reckon I probably shut down most of Wigan for that time.
What a bar steward of a morning.

I had a similar situation once (although not quite as bad). I'd taken my S1 Escort RS Turbo to the jetwash. I left the keys in the ignition, with the engine switched off, got out, put the money in the machine & started the pre-rinse. I'd forgotten that I had just had a new Clifford alarm fitted which resets itself after 2 minutes. Anyway I'm quite merrily spraying away when all of a sudden the car beeps twice at me, the indicators flash & all the doors lock - bloody great. I had to do the same thing as you, creating a rather large queue while my Mum came over with the spare set of keys
This happened to my Dad once. There was a fault on the locking of his Volvo 740 - this was about 1990. Sometimes if you pulled the exterior driver's door handle the car would lock.
Parts were on order and he made sure he never got out of the car with the engine running.....Until this night.
He worked at a big newspaper which had at certain times of the day a big stream of lorries leaving with papers printed not just for the company but for other groups, like Daily Mail, Telegraph etc.
Late this evneing he goes to leave and realises the security guard at the barrier isn't in his litlte box to lift the barrier. So, in a hurry he gets out and lifts the barrier, back to the car...CLUNK! One locked car, as you describe, engine running, lights on radio on - and a lengthening stream of vans and trucks trying to leave the print works with papers for all sort of parts of the country.
With the help of a workmate, they got a car - he raced home - 40 odd mile round trip burst into our house ran up stairs, swearing trying to find the spare keys...They were lost. A frantic 10 minutes, the house looked like riot had taken place, but the keys were found.
He gets back to borderline civil unrest at the paper, shifts the Volvo and off the trucks go - late.
He should have just broken the window...

I had exactly the same situation when I was much much younger and driving a pimped up fiesta.
Dropped a girl off at 3am outside her house with lights pointing into her parents living room and music blaring. Walked said girly to her front door and then I couldn't get back in the car.
Lights flooding into the living room, loud exhaust, music booming out. Had to call the AA to come and get into my car. In the end he put a pressure pad under the top corner of the fromnt passanger door frame and pumped it up to create enough of a gap to poke at the boot release button down by the gear stick with a piece of bamboo cane that was propping up one of her neighbours plants.
I know how it feels, it took said AA man 2 hours come out to me by which time the whole street had been out to threaten me. LOL
