My mate has a X5 3.0d old model with Michelin 315 by 20 inch rear tyres (BMW wheels) and is getting 15k miles but the ware is all in the center and the edges are like new!

first set run at 32psi second set at 26psi same result, bald in the center has anyone had similar problems?

You need to increase the pressure to 36+ psi! Low profile tyres will wear the centre if pressure not high enough (maybe counter-intuitively) but lowering it to 26 Psi will have the opposite effect.

Tell him to give Michelin technical services a call on 0845 366 1535 - they can have a chat with him ref. the correct pressure,

Hope that helps! smile

Is this an E53 or E70 ? E70 have a pretty well known problem of the inner shoulder wearing much quicker. This sounds different though!
