Protecting your rear window with the top down?
Discussion
When I got my Tam part of the deal was having the rear window re-done by the chaps in Blackpool as it had the common crease/wear/holes from rubbing and folding when the roof was down. When I was at an event last year I noticed a lot of the Griff owners had rolled up towels or thin draught excluder type affairs dropped onto their window as it had been folded. The result was they had a curve instead of a crease and no rubbing.
Is this a common way to tackle the problem or just an excuse for a) carrying a towel to mop up leaks or b) Griff owners to carry a tartan rug in their cars

Get a smaller rear window then its not a problem. Barry Ashcroft has had it done. Problem with the towel is that if you give it propper beans it will make a bid for freedom, lost mine on the M25 the other year, about 1.2 leptons should do it.Is this a common way to tackle the problem or just an excuse for a) carrying a towel to mop up leaks or b) Griff owners to carry a tartan rug in their cars

Hi Barry can I ask a few questions with regards to the hood of your car.
I have noticed all the thread around the screen in my car is coming away so it will need looking at.
Can I ask who did the work on your car?
Did you take the hood off yourself and send it away or did a garage do it for you?
Who did you send it to?
How long was it away?
And was it expensive?
Once I have these small jobs done I will feel happy to bring her out to the shows and the meetings.
Thanks CP

I'm afraid I also have a question for Barry...
I am assuming that the new rear hood/screen comprised of the screen and fabric portion being done?
If so, do the guys that you used to do this provide a re-covering service for the removable roof panel too?
I wouldn't want an obvious 'new and old' colour match between the two is what I'm thinking.
thanks in advance..

I just got quoted £920+ VAT (locally) to re-cover the targa panel and replace the rear section with new to include the smaller screen. Seems expensive, I have an idea what Barry paid from when he had it done and it was nowhere near that but I don't know if he had the targa panel covered or not. The company that did it was local to him I think it might be worth a trip over even accounting for fuel & a hotel etc it will still be cheaper than what I was quoted.

Yikes. That's a bit rich for me.Shep
I was thinking more around the £500 mark tbh.
If anyone else gets any quotes can they post them.
I'm Hampshire based but happy to travel (as suggested)

I think that what Barry paid but I don't know if that included covering the targa panel. I won't be paying that much either. If we can find somewhere cheaper that will do a good job maybe they will do discount for two?I was thinking more around the £500 mark tbh.
