I just bought the Mastrad Ceramic Knives on offer at Lakeland.

Opinions?

I know nothing

About them, is it still terminal for a ceramic knife if you drop it?

Yes, they will chip if you drop them.

The plus side is they are very sharp, and stay sharp for years. They don't rust.

mixed opinions. They're razor sharp and can hold a lovely line, but I've yet to try one which had good feel and balance compared to my collection of metal knives. They chip VERY easily.

Had a couple of Kyocera ceramic knives in the past. One ended up with several chips out of the cutting edge and the other literally snapped in half (can't remember now if I dropped it or was just using it).

Although sharp, I always had the overriding feeling they were just too fragile.

Ceramic blades are just too light to achieve a good balance. The whole knife just ends up too light IMO.

You can get steel knives as sharp anyway.
