Got a trackday booked for 12th Feb at Elvington, but the sound limit is 98bd....

Now that means nothing to me in real terms as I have no point of reference to how loud 98bd actually is..

My car is a 997 Carrera 2, with a muffler bypass mod (Gundo hack), which does make the exhaust a fair bit louder than stock...

So, what are my chances of being knocked back due to exceeding the sound limit....I understand its a static test....

Fairly unlikely TBH , If you have an Iphone download an a decibel app and that'll give you a rough idear.....they're Fairly accurate mine was only 0.5 DB off the official static Mic set-up.

They, like most other circuits, have noise limits imposed on them and if you are above the limit you won`t be allowed on track.

If you can, make it quieter before you go, I would. It would be a waste of money to arrive, fail the test and get sent home when there was something you could have done about it beforehand.

Well is it offensively loud ? if it is obviously over they won't even bother testing it they will just ask you to leave ....... Test it , it's simple enough you must have a smart phone or know someone that has. if it's only slightly over try the wire wool trick(basically stuff some wire wool up the exhaust and hope it stays in for the noise test) hehe
