57 plate RR TDV8, now out of warranty so no urge to keep lumping up main dealer charges on servicing etc.

needs an oil service anytime soon (50k miles on the odo)

any recommended independents in / around York that should be considered....?

You know if you ring around that dealers will undercut each other.

Massive difference within 20 miles of me

First phone call = London prices
Second to big franchise closer to me = 2/3 price with 'free' courtesy car

Id have thought that of the 2 the bigger one would take the mickey however was happily proved wrong
The expensive guy is out in the sticks - maybe bumpkins haggle hard smile

Ok, now i know this is a bit radical, but why not

Buy some oil, a filter, and a drip tray

  • ding* - also get some satisfaction from doing it yourself. Just write in the book the date/mileage and attach the receipts. Sorted. Might even increase the resale value as obviously a "loved" example.

Might be worth mentioning that the TDV8 has 2 sumps. Neither of wich makes for easy draining. Both times the oil drains onto the subframe and goes..well everywhere laugh

I usually use a bit of cardboard to channel the oil away into a suitable drainer
