Hi Guys

My Range Rover came with a personal plate. It's quite interesting (XXX RAW - it has a prefix), but I think the car will look better with its original registration on.

It will also give me some additional cash to spend on the Range Rover's enhancement programme smile

I have had a look and there are a few sites which specialise in selling personal plates, but can anyone recommend one?

Many thanks!

Usual suspects - Back of Times on Sunday, Pistonheads classifieds, eBay etc.

How much do you want for it?

So you mean something like Y542 RAW in which case it's worth about 50p and there's no way you could justify the cost of advertising. PH classifieds or equivalent at a realistic price. Some of the prices people ask on there are laughable at all levels. For instance,

SO06 BEE - £1,200
R8 BBS - £80,000
FA57 VET - £3,800
M15 ATK - £650 (Are your initials ATK and you work for M15?)
P1 AYA - "£20,000 NO TIMEWASTERS..."

Ebay and inform buyers that they are responsible for the DVLA fees (£80 assignment fee and £25 if they're putting it on retention)

Thanks guys.

It's L30 RAW. Obviously I'm not going to put it up for £50k, but I should get something for it.

I'll check out the channels you suggest.

OP, who did you sell your plate with in the end?

My parents are in a similar position and want to sell a private plate. They've asked me for advice (as they're old and can't use a computer) so naturally PH is the first port of call!

Thanks in advance.

I didn't bother in the end. I found most companies don't actually buy the plates from you but just advertise them for sale.

You could advertise it privately on here or eBay or Gumtree maybe.

If it's just a normal plate and has no significant meaning there just isn't the market out there for it. A lot of dealers will tell you it's worth money just to get it on their books, but in reality they won't shift it and it doesn't cost them anything to just add a number to a database.
If it has a more significant meaning, and by that I don't mean if you look at it in a mirror and squint and put various bolts in it it can sell sexgod or something, then there may be a market for it. PM me if you want any feedback.
