Anyone on here local to Aldershot a washing machine repair person?

Fixed the oven this morning, but the washing machine looks a little too scary lol

Why scarey? What's it doing (or not doing)?

Spin cycle is not working. Checked the drainage and no blockages, it's just not spinning and making a high pitched sound.

Reckon it's the motor or a belt or something.

It's a washer dryer by the way

Motor brushes worn, and armature needs cleaning?

You can find on-line instructions for fitting new brushes to most machines. £10-20 for a set of pattern brushes, and you're back in business.

Most likely this.

Google the actual make and model number, along with "replace brushes" and what looks complicated at first should become pretty straightforward to anyone with basic DIY skills, and a half-decent toolkit.

If it is, then the motor is usually accessed by taking the back off the machine, or through an inspection hatch in the back. No need to touch the electronics at the top.
