BMW 318is Not Starting
Discussion
Hi guys,
I have a 1993 BMW 318is that has not been started for 9 months, not starting!
The battery is fine, as the starter motor does its bit, but the engine wont start. i put some fuel in it this morning, but the fuel gauge is showing that the tank is empty. I looked to see if there is any sort of leak, but can find nothing (under the car/bonnet).
Does anybody have any ideas what the problem could be?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Dan

could be fuel pump relay, make sure the fuel pump runs briefly when the ignition is turned on, then check for a spark at the plugs when cranking the engine, this means that the ECU has recognised the engine is turning over, this then sends a ground signal to the fuel pump relay and turns on the pump, if the pump is not running when cranking bypass the relay to power the pump to be sure.
If you have tried the above and still no luck, carry out a compression check, you MUST have 10 bar minimum compression.
If still no luck come back to me....
