Hi

Apparently Willimas F1 team are selling shared on March 1st. Would be interested in buying some, nothing megga but would be cool. Anyone know how to go about it, do you need to buy via a broker etc or direct with bank?!..

Thanks in advance..

In order to get full details and then order shares ahead of the day of the offering, you will need to contact the IPO co-ordinator. That will be Bank am Bellvue AG which is Swiss based. They are co-ordinating the IPO across Germany, the UK and other countries.

Why buy shares for fun/cool? If you think they will increase in value great but if not you are just gambling (or worse)

You know when you go to the Grand Prix and buy a baseball cap for £30? it's a bit like that except it won't make you look like quite so much of a tit.

At the end of the day buying shares is gambling lets face it, no different to buying shares in a football team..

How do they make money?

Get their prospectus and see what their accounts say historically and what the statement on future prospects are for growth etc.

Revenue is from sponsorship but also on their finishing position in the championship and then they get a proportion of the commercial rights from tv deals based upon their championship end slot.

It's a gamble bit like that racing driver who sold shares in himself didn't come to much. This however is a team which has a seriously good track record but now manufactures are in there in force so much harder than vs other teams

An old man looking to list his company.

You have to conclude that this is about IHT planning/valueing for a sale as well as releasing funds. It's not a growth or income story.

OK, I'll open by saying I know next to nothing about shares so be gentle with me!

If, as someone else has posted, an F1 fan such as myself wanted to buy a couple of shares just really for fun and a souvenir certificate to stick on the wall, is this possible?

I'm not worried about making any money and would only be looking to buy a few shares (depending on their price obviously!) no more than about £100 - many people would spend this on a night out so it's money I'm prepared to lose.

If it is possible, how do I do it?

Many thanks for any help

At this stage there seems to be no information as to who is handling the issue in the UK - you could try hassling the Swiss or Austrians or Germans...

Or if you are really brave call Claire Williams at Grove & ask her direct

German listing only, last I heard.

No plan to list in UK as our new rules would require disclosure of promo and advertising deals.

As for getting certs. This is hard enough in the UK. In Germany, you'd need to go via a local broker and get the purchase settled outside of Crest. You'd still have a cert in German though.

There is a suggestion on their site of a fan float with details to follow

http://www.attwilliams.com/forum/williams-shares-w...

But in Germany there is a minimum application of 50 shares ie just over a grand

From a PHers pov it might be better to look if there are any shareholder privileges.
They might be worth having.
