It's funny you should mention it, because that was the hot topic in the pub last night - wind deflectors on lupos.

Actually, hang on, no it wasn't.

I think they deflect the wind when you have the window open.

They were fitted to the (Nissan Sunny) hire car I had over Christmas and I have to say they were very effective.

Effective? At what? Making the car look like it was being driven by a pensioner?

This is Piston Heads and if you have been lurking for a while you will see that before you buy wind deflectors you need 1) a thick hide and 2) a sense of humour.

PH is probably not the best site to ask about accessories to bling up ya motor innit, but a straight answer would be that they probably look OK and are practical.

Anyway, welcome to PH where about one in ten answers are relevant to any question posed.

Enjoy.

What are wind deflectors anyway?
(and don't say deflectors of the wind)

They don't need wind deflectors on Lupos because there's no atmosphere. Now if you were talking about Alpha Centauri IV I could understand...

Those stupid, pointless, plastic mouldings that fit around the front windows to stop ash from your pipe being blown back into your Volvo estate.

Bits of plastic that sit over the top of the side windows to reduce wind noise when the windows are open a crack.

OP: I suspect they'll make it quieter at speed with the windows open a crack, but look idiotic.

Ah right, ta. Thought it was those (or those yellow things that go on windscreen wipers) then thought it might be those little things that go on the bonnet..or are they part of car bras?

Thread hijack: assuming you don't use yellow, are the windscreen wiper deflector thingies any good at... you know, deflecting wind or whatever it is they're supposed to do?

Come to think about it, what are they supposed to do?
