Ring to Innsbruck - good routes
Discussion
Hi - looking for some advice:
A mate and I are off in the summer to visit a buddy who lives in Innsbruck and we thought we'd drop in for some laps of the ring on the way down. He will be on a Hayabusa bike and I'll be carrying the gear in an E60 M5. Have a few ideas for getting to the ring but onwards from there am not too sure.
Would be looking for a combination of some decent derestricted Autobahn sections and some smaller roads with twisty stuff into the mountains.
Any advice gratefully received!
Cheers
Steve

Getting to the ring is the easy bit.A mate and I are off in the summer to visit a buddy who lives in Innsbruck and we thought we'd drop in for some laps of the ring on the way down. Most autobahns are derestricted. Only a few are three lanes
or more for really high speed runs.
From the 'ring, suggest avoid the A61 it's mostly limited
in the Southern section. Suggest drive east to pick up
the A5 near Darmstadt, which is three or four lanes each way and
can get really busy - but when it's not, expect to
see plenty of folks in lane 3 doing 150 mph.
Karlsruhe to Ulm on the A8 is usually very busy too.
Going A6 via Heilbronn can be easier.
A7 south from Ulm usually reasonably ok. 120 - 140 mph no problem.
In the mountains, Fernpass is a doddle, Oetztal worth
a visit and the back road via Kuehtai is good fun.
Much more on http://www.alpineroads.com/, which is by
bikers, for bikers.
