Well the car was collected yesterday and the first inspection undertaken.
The car drove very well no pulling to one side or the other at any time, sounded great (I was following) with omly the front indicators malfunctioning. Bonnett looked a bit hicky as you would imagin.
Bonnet removed and, except fot impact damage, OK with only one unexpected bit of damage. The bracket for the holding down pin slightly bent. See below for pictures.
On inspecting the chassis the hinge mounting bracket on the passenger side is badly bent
but the S3 chassis which I broke a while ago has got a perfect replacement available
And possibly the drivers side very slightly bent
So that seems the extent of the accident damage, I cant believe the insurance company wrote the car off for that, its criminal.
Next step, but not for a week or so, is a partial body lift to assess the chassis then decision time repair or break.
The car has only done 38k miles and has a recon gearbox fitted at 35k miles.

That is ridiculous, It looks like A fibre glass repair and a couple of whacks with a big hammer and that car could be back on the road, thats what I would do. But................... am really glad it has gone to someone who is going to get this car up to standard it deserves, cant wait for the body off pictures hope you dont find anything too nasty good luck!
The hinge brackets on my S2 both sagged with age+corrosion and didn't look much worse than the worst of those. It's only a bit of square tube, and it's easy enough to chop that off and weld a new bit on. Bodywork repairs need more skill and not something I'd tackle myself but for people who can do this sort of thing it doesn't look like a big job in the scheme of things. The biggest problem would be that broken indicator. That's probably what wrote it off. 
That bonnet looks recoverable, I would grind out the glass holding the catch bracket and glass in a new one. At the front I would feather the edges of the glass fibre at the break on the inside, clamp the paint side flat and then glass over the inside in layers till you have the thickness back. Then fill and paint the outside. simples!!
Those shoes are a bit loud bye the way, hope you don't go out in them.
