Does anyone know of/use a good sat nav system in a Caterham that is good for country routes, and doesn't fall off the windscreen?

- I have an iPhone so could use that if there is a good app version??

I've been using a Garmin Quest for the past few years, and I'm planning to upgrade this year, going to get a Garmin Nuvi 550. You can plan routes using your computer, rather than having to struggle with the unit itself, and it's waterproof, which in a 7 is very important!

Bongo, I've never seen any of the satnav systems allow you to choose "send me the most circuitous route with the twistiest of mountain passes, like ever" but the Tomtom iPhone app does allow you to choose the type of route to favour, including the old fave "Avoid Motorways".

The Tomtom cradle is a touch pricy, but worth having (certainly on a 3G or 3GS) as it contains a superior GPS receiver, making the signal much more reliable on the move. We patch the driver's iPhone into the Autocom for long journeys, hence proving satnav, music and handsfree. Sorted.

Copilot on the iPhone is also pretty good. The GPS receiver isn't that bad, so haven't seen the need for the TomTom cradle.
