Edit: Bugger meant the title to say on the road to ruin frown

But I just cant help myself

Just put down a deposit on a Brera when I was meant to be buying a GT hehe

So guys the question is:

What car have you gone to buy, but then bought something else?

I have gone from a 7K GT to a 15K Brera but I cant stop thinking its the better car for my needs (and looks fecking gorgeous!)

Not the actual car but very close :

Few weeks ago, pulled into the local Renault dealership to get a quote for a brand new Megane Coupe, saw a yellow 250 cup through the window and as soon as I walked in and saw it was only 19000. Put a deposit down and walked out with massive grin.

I was looking for a 3 series Saloon (as I have 3 kids) around £10,000 ended up spending £20,000 on a 325 convertible that I can only get two of the kids in, lol.

I've been guilty of this in the past too, was all set on buying a Civic Type R but while doing research I noticed BMW 8 Series were within my budget so ended up buying on of those instead.

I don't think I've ever went out looking for something and got something else. I've went on a few speculative searches and ended up driving some great cars like Audi TT 225s and the like when I wasn't looking for anything in particular. I always keep a close eye on the cash though as I like to stick to a buget. If you are prepared to pay a reasonable amount and look hard enough you'll always find what you're after.

I went to buy a citroen c2 automatic POS for £4k

Came back with a massive smile on my face after buying a 1.8 Astra sxi without thinking about the insurance ( I was 17 at the time, it was definitely worth it though smile )

Paid 2k for the Astra, half of the c2 and it was a million times the car smile

You are NOT on a road to ruin with a Brera ! I've run up 100k miles in 3 Alfa's including an intoxicatingly beautiful Brera, and its go no more foibles or running costs than any other solidly built modern car, certainly a lot less than three Audi's and one BMW have been.

I was originally looking for quiet, good-looking, comfortable etc cruising car and looked at various Audi A5's...

However, to get to the local Audi dealer I had to drive past an Alfa dealer …. My head was saying Audi on the way there … my heart definitely said Alfa on the way out… Ended up spending 10k less buying an Alfa Brera 3.2V64wd, and the saving means I am not concerned at the worse fuel economy, even on 50k miles of possible ownership.

Anyway, enjoy the love affair !
