Hi,

Soo.. Many nearly nearly launches.. Now after Porsche Turbo 2 No's release of F458.. there is not a peep from Macca crew..

Has their wow wee release been Knobbled by competition and delays..Or are they back in the shed working on a 's' or 'R' version to keep up?

Any views or news on still born silence from woking..?

Hey? I didn't think it was due for release quite yet? I have a feeling it might just wipe the floor with the competition...

What "nearly launches"? I've always though it's release date was for sometime in 2011.

Unless this thread is about a new pushchair?

McLaren AFAIK always said 2011, somehow with Ron at the helm I don't think delays would be allowed hehe

It's always been mid 2011 for the launch and like many others I think it’s going to show Ferrari and Lamborghini up as the fashion accessory some of their cars have become.

If I was looking for somewhere to put just under £200k and had to decide on the MP4-12C or a 458, I wouldn’t be phoning Maranello wink

This is a drivers car they are building, not an Italian handbag. When it's ready, they will sell it.

They will not sell it, glued up and ready to burst into flames, like another luxury sportscar builder did recently...

  • to be taken with a pinch of salt, clearly.
It will be ready when it's ready.

Probably because the MP4-12C will wipe the floor with the 458 & McLaren know that. They wont have any problems selling the cars & i have no doubt that a few well known journalists will simply re-inforce that fact.

If the car was a 'dog' Uncle Ron wouldnt let it out would he due to his well known requirement for perfection.

I have seen an MP4 on the road & it looks superb. Better looking than the 458 & it is probably quicker as well. I would imagine that the boys at Marenello are worried at the moment & are not looking forward to the release of the McLaren.

Steve Cropley mentions the MP4-12C in his column in this week's Autocar. They (Autocar) will be testing the car as a first drive story in 'a couple of weeks', however the project isn't currently on schedule due to the disruption from the recent snow.

It's fallen behind schedule by one day.

If McLaren were not so English, they would be German.

Maclaren should release a push chair called the MP4-12C, just for the amusement value.

They've already been panicked into entering the 4x4 business.
What's next - the F-Whiz?

Isn't this the same PH that has carried many posts complaining about the McLaren being constantly in the news with teasers? (including articles about the racing version and its likely sister roadcar).

Also, what does "Porsche Turbo 2 No's release of F458" mean?

The car is effectively ready. The showrooms/dealers are not quite); the reason for the mid 2011 launch is to coincide with the high rollers hitting their respective boulveards/towns. The car's development and subsequent launch has always (obviously) been timed to synch with the dealers development/launch. This is the crucial factor because this is no longer about 1 bespoke model; is what I have been told...

The company I work for has just finished the steel frame for a new Mclaren dealership in the Midlands. Won't be ready for a few months yet so maybe the launch is a little way off.
