Bonnet Boot Badges in Stainless Steel First Sample

Well finaly got the first sample made and I think it looks good, its straight off the milling machine and as yet unpolished. Its been made from a thicker piece of stainless than would be used in 'production'

Will need to confirm final price but shouldnt change much, if at all from original circa £30, but will depend on final numbers.

I have already sent a mail to Norman. The sample looks great and I am definately up to buy one. It is nice to see previously unobtainable parts being re-manufactured.

Norman you are going to think I'm really anal here but it jumped out at me when I looked at it - the marked section to me is just a fraction too short on your new badge - but then again I've spent far too much time generating artwork for these flaming logos

Spot on Chris - wondered if that would be spotted. It will be easy to correct however. The main difference is the end of each run, in the original they were square as the badge must have been moulded but as the new badge is milled from solid the end of each run is rounded.

What are you doing with the recesses?

Enamel or some creative powder coating might look good, powder coat maybe a bit labour intensive. Not sure what the heat in both processes would do to the appearance of the stainless, might be a problem.

As well as these would you have the artwork for the V8 badges as well?

I may have access to a vinyl cutting machine and would like to try to get some decals made.

Nothing is the short answer but from experimenting with the original badges is dead easy to run enamel paint, eg Hunbrol, into the groves and just wipe the surface clean, looks good. Thats what I did with the original badge and it allows people to use what ever colour they like.

Almost ready for the first production run but could do with a few more orders to bring numbers up especially the V6/8 badges, currently 16 TVR badgse, 3 V8 badges, 2 V6 badges.

Are there any more takers please, will be confirming final costs prior to placing orders.

A small local "sticker" company who make stuff for us at work did me a few of these as a favour so guess the programme or whatever it is you need is readily available somewhere ?

I have 'mocked up the V6 version of the badge and am open to helpful comments

Hi Norman,

The V Horizontal stripes are wider than in
the 6. Which make It look too big.

Also, the round part of the 6, needs to be a tad taller.

The V is the same as the V8 bage as is the bottom half of the Eight

Just thought i'd give my opinion, as i done about 10 years printing, and was taught a lot about type face and proportion by an old timer.

The 8 takes up more space, so it fits better.

No Johnny not 'dissing your comment just wanted to show the basis that I started from. Pleased to get your comments but I'm waiting to see if there are any others. I'll take them all under consideration then propose a final (I hope ) version.

The TVR Car Club badges are available on the TVRCC website under the RO Area then use the drop down for TVRCC Logos. I used this as a basis for most of my experimentation. There are also logos around without the car club bit on it but I only found that out when I'd drawn my own

See what you mean, originally I thought the leg of the six would look best the same width as the leg of the 'V'
