Hi all,

I've been looking to purchase a 2s preferably a 'mark 3' and have seen that this has been sitting around for almost a year now.

http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/2328095.htm

Why do you think it’s been on sale this long? Would it be advisable to look elsewhere?

Apologies in advance if anyone here owned it, no offence is intended.

Looks good to me. This colour always gets positive comments on here.
I love my Mk2.
As a Mk2 S and with the wavey dash this is a very rare car. Dont think they made more than 23 Targa Mk2's in 2006, less how many were S spec, less how many had the wavey dash interior.

In my opinion well worth the asking price. (subject to the usual checks).
Perhaps its not sold because the owner believes in his valuation.

Good luck.
Tony.

PS there's a 2005 Mk2 for sale in Tampa Florida and they are turning down $100,000 offers.
(lets help them to get them US road legal and push the prices up smile)

This is similar to the amount I paid for my 56 plate Mk 3 'S' with 13k on it. Make sure you check it has got the proper gearbox and proper all the 'S' features. I know mine didn't and having them retro-fitted cost money and was a pita.

Nice looking car. Mileage wouldn't put me off (got 36,000 miles on mine with no issues and still on original clutch), lovely colour, rare wavy dash Targa top, might be worth a punt? Bid them in the nuts, you never know?

The Diff and Gearbox combination is the issue ...I don't think mine is a CR box (only idendification is CR written in hand on the box) but I changed to 3:73 diff, a CR box definitely needs a 3:73 or 3:91 diff. TVR did not have the bits to change the diff at the time hence the non CR box and 3:46 diff even though the specification said different for an 'S'. (Well thats my understanding of the issue)

Not a big fan of the large boot spoiler unless you like collecting water, someone has changed the cans. Genuine 2006 made car, one because of the dash and the light surrounds are body colour... So not a 2005 car registered in 2006.. which is good. Check the sidelights, mine were a factory bodge job, window operation , boot opening mechanism, look by the door kick plates for paint damage(kick plates are far too short anyway). After you buy it , book it in at S&D to get the bonnet hinged smile .

You never know if these cars are Sale or Return, and the owner holds to the asking price. I would say its a fair price.

I bought the other one Fernhurst had for sale, same spec same price, and did consider this one as well. In my opinion you can't go wrong with Fernhurst, I was happy with the price, and can't speak highly enough of the whole team; great service, great warranty etc.

This one has a louder exhaust, and larger rear spoiler. IMHO it won't be around for much longer, there have been a lot of people interested in it.

Thanks for all your replies.
F1CCF, I had my eye on the one you eventually bought, you snooze, you lose and all that....
It doesn’t look like the clutch has been replaced and no mention of a rebuild at 23.5K+ miles. Am I being overtly pedantic?
Also, this has probably been mentioned before by others on the forum but buying this car will mean leaving it on the street as I don't have a garage. It will also be my only car but as I don't need to drive into work I'm hoping that shouldn't be an issue. Are any of you in the same sole car/park on the street situation and would you say that they suffer from a lot of parking bumps/dents more than other cars?
I appreciate your time in answering what must be repeat questions.

Mine is my only car if I dont include my wifes however its parked on my drive rather than in the street.
I know there are few here that park in the street and it appears that TVR's are 'left alone' in general.

Mine has done nearly 45k miles now and is still going very well.
I'm sure youve read the threads about the post 2004 engines being better. I had the clutch changed at 40k.
