I have fitted an upright radiator, 450 wide, 1800 tall. I find it takes a long time for it to warm up compared to other rads. The top does get hot then progresively cooler as you go down.
The flow & return get red hot, its like the water shoots across the bottom without going upwards. Is it just warm rising that gets it up there? Have I fitted it upside down, is that possible!!. I'm missing a trick, any advice welcome!

I have just had an extension done and as part of this have a Hudson Reed single panel jobby, same dims as yours.

It's been on for just over a week and I noticed it does take quite a bit longer to get hot compared to the other conventional rads, so I would say that's normal. Makes sense given they do not have the same surface area as a panel rad with fins on it. But mine does seem to be the same temp all over.

You sure you've done the obvious and bled all the rads?? not just the designer one??

oohh, just thought. Assuming you have a TRV on one side and an LSV on t'other. Turn up/down the LSV a tad to adjust the flow rate through the rad, could be a balancing issue. If the water is running through the rad at too fast/slow rate then it doesn't get chance to uniformly heat the thing up.

Google for balancing central heating.

disclaimer...the above could be a load of bks.

Is the rad designed with the pipes going in top and bottom? Sometimes they are, but come with a bung that you put into the rad if you are using both bottom connections, this'll direct the water up and round as opposed to short circuiting through the bottom section.
