Mercedes Key Replacement - How much!!!? - Options?

Hi all

Managed to land myself a nice C55 AMG at the weekend, needs a bit of tidying as private sale. One problem is that it only came with one key and that looks like its been chewed by a dog and is about to fall apart. Called my local benz dealer and they want £250 for one!!!

Ive seen loads of keys on ebay and a few companies offering to supply them for me to code? by doing some wierd and wonderful process, is this possible or do I need to lube up and get ready for a £250 experience!

I got one for my C32 last year and it cost £215 so shop around but get ready to bend over. I could not find anything on the web that did them specifically for that car.

Ignore eBay - you cannot recode Merc keys.

You can only use the ones on eBay if you would like to change the casing over.

Otherwise for key #2 expect to pay £200 approx.

The eBay key is useful to repair a tatty case and is a very easy swap.
