MagicVan - anyone had there alloys done?
Discussion
Aup, just asking the above.
I've been quoted £180 to get my alloys refurbed, just wondered if anyone on here has used them and if they'd recommend. They operate in Central Scotland but may be franchises elsewhere, not sure.
The tyre is deflated and pulled back enough for access, its only the visible side of the wheel which is treated, the damage is repaired and then the wheel is painted..
Anyone got anything to say, good or otherwise?
cheers

I saw this service on an episode of Wheeler Dealers, though not sure of the company used, the technique was how you described.
They tarted up a set of E36 M3 wheels and i must say they looked very impressive (on telly) but not sure what they would look like up close and personal.
Are there any reviews on Google?

For £250 you can get a prober all over job from a reputable wheel refurbishers.
Takes a few days though.
TWS (The Wheel Specialist - google - they have branches throughout the UK) do them same day - drop your car in first thing in the morning and collect after work. If you haggle they'll do them for £250 (as I discovered when a mate got them for this much - normally about £300 for a set of 17s).Takes a few days though.
This is MUCH better than simply getting them flashed over with some spray.
- tyres removed from rims
- old paint/coat removed
- shot blasted
- powder coated and baked
- tyres replaced, balanced etc
I've had my wheels done (and subsequently repaired by them after trashing the left hand pair), my GFs, several freinds and family. Their work has been flawless (Leeds branch).
If you're getting your wheels done then get a proper job done - not some bloke with a spray compressor in a van; that's no way as good as powder coat.
