You mean it's in Limp Home mode?

Has the oil and filter ever been changed?

Might be worth having that done and some diagnostics before you condem
the 'box.

Could be another case of 'Sealed for Life' that's until it goes Bang through lack of an oil change
Best the oil is changed at the big 60,000 miles service, what ever Jaguar say, also do the diff

As Jaguar Steve said, could try an oil change and diagnostic to see if all is now well

Is it a 5 speed or 6 speed gearbox
