Hello

The mrs is after a week in the summer somewhere with good water sports, tennis etc with the kids. The choices in terms of the package type holidays seem to be Mark Warner or Neilson's. Judging from website alone, Mark Warner looks the better of the two. May I ask the PH community for their views and experiences of either or both, please? Thank you.

Are Sunsail doing anything in a location that you like? They always used to do some fantastic all inclusive holidays focussed around kayaking, sailing, swimming, windsurfing in their Beach Clubs.

I believe Neilsons take the sailing part a bit more seriously. If you want to get some sailing badges - neilsons, if you just want to muck about in the water/play tennis - mark warner.

Thank you. Muck about and play tennis sounds like me! Mark Warner are also cheaper (various offers and discounts on at the moment).

I don't know about Nielsen's but we had a week in Egypt with MW and really enjoyed it. It's not as middle class as Sunsail and the resort wasn't exclusive so there were a few too many Russians about (ie some) but they run a good set up.

What resorts are you looking at and are you after child care? the quality and facilities can vary a lot.

some good advice 'williaa68' but holidays are important to get right and a little more detail is needed to point you in the right direction!

before I continue I must come clean and say that I work for Neilson - but will try and give you impartial advice as holiday time and holiday spend is important.

Sorry that our website doesn't seem up to scratch - we try to fill it with all the info folks need when making holiday choices and as such don't focus so much on the 'look & feel' - maybe we should if it seems to be losing us business!

Sounds like you fall into that stereotypical category of 'happy kids = happy mum = happy dad' - me too!

So things to consider are - how old are the kids? if they're old enough (or think they are) to want to be off site in the evenings - then some places will be less stressful than others for you and access to the local village/town could be important. Kids are pretty disorganised at the best of times and to get the most out of their holiday time need a 'club' that not only supervises them but offers the things they like doing (some dont much access to activities and spend time doing face painting and arts & crafts!! - some childcare clubs are just 1/2 days others are full days and if you want 'you' time in the evenings then you'll need to ask if that's covered too!

Sailing is so like driving - a sport - a means of transport - a pastime - so it's not all about getting 'badges' with us - though some like that others don't - their choice but we offer all aspects and unlike MW it's all included in the price - so be careful when making headline price comparisons.

You also mention tennis as an interest - our group lessons are included and throw players of the same ability together with coach - sessions are fun - but equally important you meet others on the holiday to make up sociable pairings for games.

Sorry have wittered on a little - but hope you get the point that there is much more to ask before you commit your hard earned holiday money. Our own forum on our website will give you access to our guests who will tell it like it is! Try them!

happy choosing

I'm not a Neilson worker, but we went on one of their activity holidays to Sivota, Greece in October and thoroughly enjoyed it. Well organised, good training and equipment and great food.

Haven't done an MW for comparison, but we've used Neilson for skiing too and they've always been good there too.
